If you search for "Trae AI Indonesia", you probably want answers to a few plain questions. Is Trae free? Can I use it in Indonesia? Does it speak Bahasa Indonesia? Is it safe to use with my work?

We will tell you what we could confirm, and what we could not. We are a company in Nigeria. We do not know the Indonesian market, and we are not going to pretend we do. What we can do is read the official sources and report them honestly. We read Trae's own pages on 9 October 2026. For some questions, the official pages gave no answer. For those, we say "not confirmed" and we show you how to check for yourself.

This approach matters because many reviews online are old, copied from each other, or wrong. As you will see below, the price in some of them does not match the price on Trae's own page today.

What Trae is

Trae is an AI coding tool. You download it, open a project, and ask an AI to help write and change code. Several third-party reviews say it is made by ByteDance, the company behind TikTok. Trae's own landing page, which we read, does not say who makes it, so we pass that on as "reported by reviews" and not as a fact from Trae.

One review we read says that in 2026 Trae is split into two products: the IDE, which is the code editor, and a separate workspace called TRAE Work. Trae's pages also mention a web version and a mobile section. If you search, make sure you are looking at the product you mean.

If you want to compare Trae with other tools of this kind, our guides to the best AI coding tools and to Kiro vs Cursor give the wider picture.

What is confirmed

Here are the facts we could read on Trae's official pages.

Where you can install it

Trae's download page lists:

  • macOS, version 12.0 or newer, with an installer for Apple Silicon.
  • Windows, versions 10 and 11, with an installer for x64 computers.
  • Linux, as .deb and .rpm packages. The page shows a .deb download for x64, and it mentions .rpm without showing a download button.
  • Mobile, as a section with a short slogan. It does not name an operating system or give a download.

The page does not mention Intel Macs, Windows ARM, hardware needs, or file sizes. So if you have one of those machines, check before you plan around it.

What it costs

Trae's pricing page shows four plans, priced in dollars per month:

PlanPriceWhat the page says
Free$0Limited usage. Auto mode only. Limited autocomplete, 5,000 completions a month. Standard queue priority. 2 cloud tasks at the same time.
Pro (marked "Recommended")$20 a month$20 of usage a month. Fast queue priority. Unlimited autocomplete. Access to all models. 10 cloud tasks at the same time.
Pro+$60 a month$60 of usage, which is three times Pro. 15 cloud tasks at the same time.
Ultra$200 a month$200 of usage, which is ten times Pro. 20 cloud tasks at the same time. Early access to models.

The page also says yearly billing saves 17 percent, but it does not list the yearly prices. For companies, it points to a separate enterprise route through BytePlus. It says most payment methods are supported. Plans renew automatically.

There is one more important point. Some reviews say a paid plan costs $3 a month, and others say $10. We found those numbers in reviews. The official page today shows $20 for Pro. The reviews may be old, or they may refer to an offer. Either way, trust the pricing page over the review, and check it again on the day you pay.

What is not confirmed

This is the part Indonesian readers care about most, so we put it in a table. "Not confirmed" does not mean "no". It means we could not find an official answer.

Your questionWhat we found
Is Trae available in Indonesia? Not confirmed. The download and pricing pages do not mention countries or regions.
Does it have a Bahasa Indonesia interface? Not confirmed. No official page we could read lists interface languages. Older reviews mention Chinese and English only. We found no source that lists Indonesian.
Is there a price in rupiah, or a local payment method? Not confirmed. The pricing page uses "$" and does not name a currency code. It does not list regional prices.
What does it do with my code and prompts? Not confirmed by us. We tried to read the privacy policy, but our tool could not load its text. You must read it yourself.
Where is my data stored? Not confirmed.
Who is the company behind it?Not stated on the pages we could read. Reviews say ByteDance.
What counts as "usage", and what happens when the free allowance runs out?Not confirmed. The pricing page lists billing questions but our tool did not show the answers, and the billing documentation page did not load.

We want to be clear about one thing. Where we say "we could not read", the problem may be our tool, not Trae. Some of Trae's pages load their text with scripts, and our reader may miss it. That is a reason for you to open those pages in your own browser, not a sign that Trae hides anything.

What reviews say, and how much to trust them

Reviews can help, but treat them as leads, not facts. Here is what we saw, and how we would handle each point.

  • "It is free." Partly true today. The official page shows a free plan, but with limited usage and Auto mode only. Some reviews were written when the limits were different.
  • "Paid plans cost $3 or $10." The official page shows $20 for Pro, so these look out of date.
  • The interface is in Chinese and English. One source from 2025 says this. A newer setup guide says the display language can be changed, but it does not name Indonesian. So there is no evidence yet, one way or the other.
  • A warning about telemetry. One 2026 review advises against using Trae on workplace code because of telemetry. We cannot judge this without the privacy policy. It is the sort of warning that is worth checking before you decide, which is why we put it in the checklist below.
  • "You need a VPN." One Chinese-language guide says a VPN is needed to use the international version. It is a single blog, and we could not verify it. We do not repeat it as fact. If your connection to Trae's servers is slow or fails, that is useful to know, and your own test will show it.
  • Quality varies. One review says the agent's results depend on the model and the context, and that long jobs that use many tokens can cost more than you expect. This matches how most AI coding tools behave, so keep an eye on your usage.

How to read a tool review without being fooled

Because so much of what you find about Trae is third-party, a few habits will help you judge any review of any AI tool.

  • Look for the date. A review from early 2025 describes a different product from the one on sale in late 2026. Prices, limits and features change quickly in this field.
  • Check if the writer used the tool. Many pages are written from other pages. If a review has no details that only a user would know, treat it as a summary of summaries.
  • Compare with the official page. When a review gives a price or a limit, the vendor's own page is the better source. If they disagree, the review is probably older.
  • Notice who gains. Some reviews contain links that earn money when you sign up. That does not make them wrong, but it is a reason to check the facts yourself.
  • Separate a fact from a feeling. "It costs $20" is a fact you can check. "It is the best" is a feeling. Use facts to decide and treat feelings as a prompt to test.
  • Be careful with a single source. If only one blog says something surprising, such as a VPN being needed, treat it as a question to test, not a rule.

We tried to follow these habits in this article. That is why so many lines say "not confirmed". It would have been easy to write a confident page that told you Trae works fine in Indonesia. We could not back that up, so we did not write it.

What a good official answer looks like

When you email Trae, or read its pages, you can judge the quality of the answers. A good answer has these features:

  • It is specific. "Your code is not used to train models on paid plans" is specific. "We take privacy seriously" is not.
  • It names the plans. Free and paid users often have different terms. Kiro's data page, for example, separates free, individual and enterprise users. A good answer from Trae would do the same.
  • It names the place. It tells you where data is stored, or says plainly that it does not say.
  • It tells you how to opt out. There should be a setting or a form, with steps.
  • It is written down and dated. A policy page with a date is better than a promise in a chat.

If the answers you get are vague, that is information too. It does not prove bad intent, but it tells you to keep your sensitive work out.

Interface language and AI language are different things

Many people mix up two questions. One is whether the menus are in Indonesian. The other is whether the AI understands Indonesian. They are separate.

The menus are decided by the tool's translation work. If Indonesian is not on the list, the buttons and settings will be in another language, and you can still use the tool. The AI's understanding depends on the model behind it. Most large models can read and write Indonesian, though results can vary, so test it as we described. A tool can have an English menu and still follow your Indonesian instructions well. It can also have a translated menu and give weaker answers in that language.

For code itself, the language of the instruction matters less. Code is mostly English words. Many developers write their requests in English and keep their notes in their own language. Whichever you choose, be consistent inside one project, because mixing languages in one long chat can confuse both you and the model.

If Trae is not right for you

It is fine if the checks come out badly. You have other options, and we have read their official pages as well. Kiro has a free plan with 50 credits a month and explains its data handling in detail. Cursor has a free Hobby plan and a Privacy Mode that you can turn on. Our Kiro vs Cursor guide compares these, and the best AI coding tools guide lists more. Whichever you choose, run the same five checks. They apply to every tool, and doing them once is a habit that protects you for years.

What we could not do

It is fair to end with the limits of this article. We did not install Trae and test it ourselves, so we cannot tell you how well it writes code. We could not read Trae's privacy policy or billing pages in full, so we cannot tell you what they say. We have no information on how Trae behaves in Indonesia specifically. Each of these is a gap you can close in an afternoon, and we would rather point at the gap than hide it.

Five checks before you rely on Trae

These are the checks we would do if we were in your place. Each one is a small step, and none needs special skill.

1. Check the language, after you install

Install the editor and open its settings. Look for the display language list. If Indonesian is there, good. If not, the interface will be in another language. That is not a disaster. Many developers work in an English interface. The point is to know before you commit time.

2. Test your instructions in Indonesian

Most AI models can read instructions written in Indonesian, but quality can vary by tool and by task. Give Trae a small job in Indonesian, for example: "Buat halaman sederhana dengan formulir kontak." Then give it the same job in English. Compare the two results. If the Indonesian result is poor, you can write your instructions in English and keep your comments in Indonesian.

3. Check the price where you will pay

Do not trust a review for price. Open the checkout and look. What currency is shown? Does your bank add fees? Does your card work for international payments? Some banks block these by default. Ask your bank before you subscribe, not after. If a local payment method is offered, check how it is listed.

4. Read the privacy policy and the telemetry settings

Open Trae's privacy policy and find these answers: Is my code or prompt used to train models? Where is it stored? How do I opt out? Is there a setting to reduce data sharing? Then look in the editor's settings for anything about telemetry or usage data. Write the answers down. For comparison, other tools publish this kind of detail. Kiro's data protection page, for example, states what is used for service improvement, how to opt out, and where free users' content is stored. You should expect the same level of detail from any tool you trust with your code.

5. Keep client and company code out until you are sure

Until you have finished checks 1 to 4, use Trae only for practice projects, public code and your own test files. Do not put in secret keys, client data or a company's private code. If you handle customers' personal data, remember that Indonesia has its own personal data protection law, Law No. 27 of 2022. We are not lawyers and we cannot tell you what it requires for your case. If your work involves personal data, ask someone qualified before you send it to any foreign AI tool.

A fifteen-minute test plan

  1. Download Trae from its official site only. Do not use copies from other websites, because a changed installer can carry harmful software.
  2. Install it and note the time it takes.
  3. Sign in. Note which sign-in options you are offered.
  4. Open the language settings. Write down whether Indonesian is listed.
  5. Give it one small job in Indonesian and one in English.
  6. Look at how much of the free allowance was used, if the app shows it.
  7. Open the privacy policy and find the four answers from check 4.

At the end, you will have your own facts for Indonesia. They will be worth more than any review, including ours.

How to ask Trae directly

Trae's pricing page gives an email address for questions, and it points to its billing documentation and terms. If a question matters to you, ask. Here is a short message you can adapt. It is in English first and then in Indonesian.

Hello Trae team,

I am a developer in Indonesia. Please confirm:
1. Is Trae available in Indonesia?
2. Does the interface support Bahasa Indonesia?
3. What currency and payment methods can I use?
4. Is my code or prompt used to train models, and how do I opt out?
5. Where is my data stored?

Thank you.
Halo tim Trae,

Saya pengembang di Indonesia. Mohon konfirmasi:
1. Apakah Trae tersedia di Indonesia?
2. Apakah antarmukanya mendukung Bahasa Indonesia?
3. Mata uang dan metode pembayaran apa yang bisa saya gunakan?
4. Apakah kode atau prompt saya dipakai untuk melatih model, dan bagaimana cara menolaknya?
5. Di mana data saya disimpan?

Terima kasih.

Keep the replies. If they ever change their terms, you will have something to point to.

How Trae's free plan compares

It helps to put the free plans next to each other, using only what each vendor's own page says. Trae's free plan has limited usage, Auto mode, and 5,000 autocomplete uses a month. Kiro's free plan has 50 credits a month, and the page says complex work uses more than one credit. Cursor's free Hobby plan has limited agent requests, and the page does not give the numbers. None of these tell you how much real work you can do. That depends on the size of your tasks, so a short test is the only honest way to find out. We cover the Kiro and Cursor side in more detail in our Kiro vs Cursor guide.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Trusting an old review for the price. Prices change. Use the pricing page.
  • Assuming it is available because it downloads. A download link does not prove that every feature or payment method works in your country.
  • Downloading from an unofficial site. Use the official site only.
  • Pasting secrets before reading the privacy policy. This is the mistake with the highest cost.
  • Judging the language by a review. Check the settings yourself.
  • Mixing up the IDE and the other Trae products. Make sure you have the one you want.
  • Ignoring usage. Free allowances are small, and long jobs can use a lot.

So, is Trae for Indonesian developers?

We cannot answer that for you, and we do not think anyone can without testing. What we can say is this. The official pages confirm that Trae exists on Mac, Windows and Linux, that it has a free plan with limits, and that paid plans start at $20 a month today. They do not confirm availability, language, local payment or data handling for Indonesia. Those gaps are easy to fill with a short test and one email.

Until you fill them, use Trae for practice and public work. Then decide with real facts. If you are weighing it against other tools, the same questions apply to every one of them: what does it cost in my currency, what language does it speak, and what happens to my code? A tool that answers these clearly deserves more of your trust. If you are not a developer and wonder how risky AI-built software can be, read is vibe coding bad for non-developers.
